Effect of fibrinolytic treatment in malignant atrophic papulosis.

چکیده
(1) Excessive pharyngeal secretions irritating the vocal chords may have initiated laryngeal spasm and respiratory arrest, the consequent hypoxia in turn provoking cardiac arrest. When pharyngeal insufflation via a facemask is used in such circumstances air is delivered under pressure to both the vocal cord and the cricopharyngeal sphincter. The reflex activity of the glottis is greater than that of the cricopharyngeus, and therefore the air will simply pass through the cricopharyngeal sphincter and dilate the stomach. (2) Simple airway obstruction with hypoxia followed by cardiac arrest and attempts at forced ventilation would tend to distend the stomach. The chest was noted to inflate, however, and the patient's cyanosis and general condition improved, so that this explanation is unlikely. (3) Pharyngeal suction may have induced a "vagal reflex." This, however, would not specifically predispose to gastric distension and is thus unlikely.

BACKGROUND The malignant form of atrophic papulosis (Köhlmeier-Degos disease) is a rare thrombo-occlusive vasculopathy that can affect multiple organ systems. Patients typically present with distinctive skin lesions reflective of vascular drop out. The small bowel is the most common internal organ involved, resulting in considerable morbidity and mortality attributable to ischemic microperforat...

Malignant atrophic papulosis, commonly known as Degos disease, is a rare vasculopathy encompassing both benign, cutaneous and lethal systemic variants. We report a case of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus in a 41-year-old male presenting with prominent Degos-like skin lesions. Multiple atrophic, porcelain-white, scar-like papules and plaques with dusky, erythematous borders, suggestive of ...

INTRODUCTION Lymphomatoid papulosis is a chronic benign disease which may be associated with malignant lymphomas. This case illustrates the relapsing and remitting nature of both lymphomatoid papulosis and its potential of developing cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and narrow-band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy as a new modality of treatment of early-stage mycosis fungoides in these patients. ...
متن کاملA case of malignant atrophic papulosis with cranial nerve and peripheral nerve impairment*
Malignant atrophic papulosisis is a rare, multisystem obliterative vasculopathy of unknown etiology, occasionally involving the cranial nerve. We describe the first case of malignant atrophic papulosisis with cranial nerve and peripheral nerve involvement in China. A 47-year-old woman presented to our hospital with atrophic porcelain white papules over the trunk and extremities, numbness in the...
